Passport for the child

Even a newborn needs a passport to cross borders, so it is advisable to remember about applying for the travel document as soon as possible after the birth.
In order to establish how to obtain a passport for your child, contact the consulate of your home country. Usually, a notification of the birth of the child needs to be filed in the consulate of your home country in order to obtain a temporary travel document for the child or to enter the child into the parent’s travel document.

If a child's nationality is Polish, it is required to apply for registration first and for a passport later. In Poland, passports for small children are issued for a 5-year period. Application for the document needs to be filed at a Passport Office, and requires the presence and the consent of both parents. A fee in the amount of PLN 30 also needs to be paid when filing the application.
